Passage 2 · Silent or read-aloud
The Colour Blue
A progressive reading passage on the cultural and linguistic history of the colour blue. Teacher-controlled read-aloud mode available — comparing silent and read-aloud scores identifies students whose comprehension exceeds their decoding ability.
8 sections · ~10 minutes · Ages 8–16+

Reading Age Profile
Complete both passages to generate a cross-referenced reading age profile. Results are compared across topics and modes — convergence across both passages is a more reliable indicator than either passage alone. A significant gap between silent and read-aloud scores flags a decoding issue that may be masking stronger reasoning ability.

How it works
01
Generate IDs
Use the ID generator to create one anonymous number per student. Assign them in your own spreadsheet. Students never know what their number means.
02
Assign the assessment
Direct students to the start page or a specific assessment. Tell them which one to complete. For read-aloud mode, set it before students begin.
03
Students complete it
Self-marking, self-paced. No time pressure. Students see a thank-you message on completion — not their score.
04
You receive the results
Results are emailed to you tagged with the student's ID. Match IDs to names using your spreadsheet. Use the profile to plan.

Privacy by design. No student names enter this system at any point. Students are identified only by a meaningless 6-digit number assigned by their teacher. Results are emailed directly to the teacher and are not stored on this site.
